Irrigation Channels

The irrigation channels originate from an ancient irrigation system surrounding the fields and meadows. The aim of the irrigation channel was to provide the extremely dry Vinschgau Valley with the required water.

These moats cover the slopes like a net, which is cleaned and maintained on a regular basis. Some of these channels have lost their original importance and are now highly rated as hiking paths.

From the centre of Corzes/Kortsch above Silandro/Schlanders, the one-hour tour leads upwards to the small church of S. Egidio, until path no. 6A detours to the left.
